[XFree86] Laptop external monitor

Hi all, I have a Compaq Evo N1020v. I have a problem when trying to connect an external monitor in xfree. When using the vesa driver the external monitor runs correctly, by when I try to use the specific drivers it fails. The graphics driver I am using is radeon (I have also tried ati). The

I have an intel 852 graphic card that uses i810 driver. When i change values with xgamma (xgamma -gamma 2, for example), nothing happens. The colour remains the same. How can i change the colour of the screen? note: it is a laptop, so it has no osd controls. Thank you.
