So, I guess it is conclusive. The drivers provided by ATI at their site
are DEFECTIVE. When are we going to get some good drivers? I'm not
going to plug and unplug my monitor every time I boot my computer to get
dual screen. They need to fix their package so that when you install
the rpms, then
Now for troubleshooting, which I hope you don't need!
Follow the steps I've already posted.
Run startx with both monitors connected.
Hopefully you'll end up with half a display.
If you can't reach the exit button, use CTRL-ALT-BKSP to terminate the X

Now go and run:

thread):
You probably won't have to recompile your kernel. Only the loadable kernel

You won't see the agpgart kernel
Can you help me compile the Kernal source so I can get Ati drivers working
I have the same card as you. Can you make it step by step to help me and
another friend on this Massive Email server of Xfree86.
Okay, here's the step by step. Run all of this from init 3 (command prompt
only) as root.

I am impressed and depressed. I assume that you were having the same
"device not found" problem I am having with my ATI Radeon 9000 Pro. I
tried making the changes you suggested with no result. I have not
recompiled the kernel yet. And I haven't seen anything like a
suggestion in the documentat

Short answer, include everything in the config file, and leave the DVI
