I believe so. If you are talking about the screens you get by hitting the tab key. I tried reconfiguring the four cardinal directions in both the General, and game specific menus to no avail - except button 0 does register. If it helps, I've tried a different joystick as well - a Saitek X36, and

Just the fact that SOME input(buttons) from the joysticks register with xmame, but axes do not would seem to suggest that I may have found a bug. If that is the case, I would be happy to turn on verbose logging, or recompile it in to my xmame or anything else that would help. Please let me know

Also, if you could suggest some apps other than Zsnes or The Sega emulator(they don't seem to want to compile very easily) that I can test my joystick on, it would be greatly appreciated. Emulators that use joysticks that I can think of: snes9x fce ultra gens hu-go stella jag_em (virtual jaguar)

Running xmame-0.60.1 on Debian Sid, Kernel 2.4.18, xfree 4.1. I have a USB MS Sidewinder Precision 2 that works in Linux just fine. Links are setup correctly, and xmame finds it. Running xmame with lunar lander, defender, gravitar, etc. the fire, thrust buttons work wine, but the axis for moving
