When I run glxgears with XFree86-4.2.0 (linux kernel 2.4.17)
with the savage driver, horizontal glitches appear continuously.
These go away the moment I quit glxgears. Its reproducible.

I've recently installed Slack8 on my system and it includes XFree86 4.1.0... I
installed the XFree86 4.2.0 binaries
from the xfree86.org site, and it seems to work well
Only problem I'm having is that XFree86 4.2's ATI driver, no matter what video mode,
causes the screen to appear with
