You can try X -configure after installing X4.2. If it still doesn't work,
send your log file.

Any idea if 4.2 will work with this?

This feature will soon be in CVS. I have a test build for X4.2, let me know
if you want to give it a try.

Hi,
I have a Dell OEM ATI Radeon VE with a DVI interface on it. There is _not_ a
vga interface on it. Only the DVI. I have a converter (that came with the
card) that goes from the one DVI connector to two (2) VGA connectors. I
would like to connect a monitor to each of these VGA connectors, an
Urk, I had forgotten about this message that had been sent to XFree86
before I subscribed. The moderator must have kicked it loose.
Please see my earlier post. The problem is an interaction between a
clipped polygon filled with a stipple pattern and the pixmap cache.
(Pretty obscure huh? ;) )
Does the problem goes away when you disable DRI ? (By using
gzip `find /lib/modules -name radeon.o` as root).

I set up a VLSI layout tool with XFree86 4.2.0 on a FreeBSD 4.5 box.
However, the stipple renderer is having problems.
The symptom is that polygons filled with a stipple pattern sometimes show
up as filled with solid black. Note I said "sometimes". It's a Heisenbug
and is particularly difficult
this link has a patch that enables DPMS on Radeon LCD panels.

I'm also quite interested in seeing this work. I have the same

What's worse, I already told my boss and coworkers how great Linux
was and how "Sure it can handle that dual monitor setup, no problem."

At the time dual-head features were added, there was no OEM VE card
available. The dual-head support in x420 radeon driver hasn't been tested on
any OEM card. It turns out DELL has some cards with OEM version of BIOS not
working with current driver on their 2nd head.
AFAIK, DELL has cards with two

Have you put Screen 0 and Screen 1 in your SeverLayout section? If yes, post

x420 supports VE dual-head setup. However if you are using some OEM version
of VE card (like DELL's) you might be out of luck.

After hours of net searching, I've been unable to find any information about
whether or not the Radeon driver supports the dual-head cards. X runs just
fine, but I'm unable to set up multiple displays-- I'm stuck with one
display mirrored on two monitors. While stereo-scopic vision is nifty and

Hello,
I just switched from a Matrox G400 to an ATI Radeon VE because the

install instructions the card runs. However, there are some issues

I am a Newbie to Linux and so i have prompt some troubles to run the

As you see following system shown above is running only in Text mode by

Hi everybody,
I have a ATI Radeon VE and I am trying to get xinerama to work with

seems to get some kind of signal since the "No signal"-banner disappers

I have a couple of problems using XFree86 4.1 which ships with RH 7.2 as

I have the Multilink connected to the DVI port on the radeon.

Actually, I'm using an SGI 1600SW LCD with my Radeon VE right now, all
digital. I never had to change a thing when I switched from VGA to DVI,
XFree just picked the correct resolution automagically.
I'm running XFree86 4.1 from RedHat 7.2.
DVI-I can handle analog and digital, so there must be s
I have an LCD monitor and an ATI Radeon VE. However, I have been unable
to get digital output from the card. I've built X from the latest CVS, and,
while it seemed to make the analog output much much better, it's still
analog. Has anyone managed to get digital output from this card in XFree
howdy.
i'm using the head of the cvs source tree's version
of the radeon driver. the analog port uses 8-bit dacs,
but the dvi port only outputs data in 6-bit mode,
ir-respective of settings. i suspect this is a bug
in the driver.
