[zfs-discuss] Q: recreate pool?

2007-05-02 Thread Gonzalo Siero
Hi there, because of a problem with EMC Power Path we need to change the configuration of a ZFS pool changing "emcpower?g" devices (EMC Power Path created devices) to underlaying "c#t#d#" (Solaris path to those devices). Problem is that they has non redundant config: "amebdo:/>zpool status

For ZFS crypto I want to be able to force (at data set create time) the checksum property to have a value of sha256 (actually it might end up being hmac-sha256 but thats not so relevant here) when the encryption property is set to any of the 'on' values. I would rather not have the user get th

[zfs-discuss] ZFS Support for remote mirroring

Does ZFS support any type of remote mirroring? It seems at present my only two options to achieve this would be Sun Cluster or Availability Suite. I thought that this functionality was in the works, but I haven't heard anything lately. Thanks! Aaron Newcomb http://opennewsshow.org http://thesour

Terry, Yes. AVS is pretty expensive. If ZFS did this out of the box it would be a huge differentiator. I know ZFS does snapshots today, but if we could extend this functionality to work across distance then we would have something that could compete with expensive solutions from EMC, HP, IBM, N

Note that you do not have to use the emcpower name to get the path redundancy of PowerPath. By default PowerPath layers in the cb_ops of the driver so that emcpower and all c#t#d# device entries for a LUN all go through PowerPath in the same way. I think the emc documentation refers to to this as
