but this makes no difference...I can still change the group ownership.
Clearly I am doing something wrong..or have incorrect expectations.
Anyone got any ideas on this ?
Thanks

Hi
I took a look at the archives and I have seen a few threads about using
array block level snapshots with ZFS and how we face the "old issue"
that we used to see with logical volumes and unique IDs (quite
correctly) stopping the same volume being presented twice to the same
server.

Hi
has anyone attempted transfers of large volume of data with zfs
send/receive in a production environment.
I am seeing interest in zfs send/receive from people who have use rsync
and similar technologies to copy data for DR purposes..but I have no
idea of waht to expect so far as performance

Thanks Chris
someone else has suggested that to me but it still does not work.
I also tried...
# svccfg -s svc:/system/webconsole setprop options/tcp_listen = true
# svcadm refresh svc:/system/webconsole

are you sure the service is actually running? does "svcs -a | grep
webconsole" say "online"?
Yes, it is online

What I find nice about Thumper/X4500's is that they behave very
predictably..in my experience anyway.

Hi
if I create a storage pool with multiple RAID-Z stripes in it does ZFS
dynamically stripe data across all the RAID-Z stripes in the pool
automagically ?
If I relate this back to my storage array experience, this would be

Hi Wee
I run a setup of SAM-FS for our main file server and we loved the
backup/restore parts that you described.
That is great to hear.
The main concerns I have with SAM fronting the entire conversation is
data integrity. Unlike ZFS, SAMFS does not do end to end checksumming.

Hi Robert
no, SAM-FS does not work with ZFS, it is still tied to QFS i.e. the SAM
piece cannot archive data straight out of a ZFS file system.
I am a big fan of SAM-FS so forgive me if I expand a little on the topic...
The way a solution like this would work is that you would build a SAM-FS

This is a bit off topic...but as Bill mentioned SAM-FS...my job at Sun
is working in a group focused on ISV's in the archiving space (Symantec
Enterprise Vault, Open Text LEA, CA Message Manager, FileNet, Mobius,
