There's two issues here. One is with quick installer and one is with
GenericSetup. This mailing list is not the right place to discuss issues

With the old style products you could create afterInstall and beforeUnistall
scripts that were called on the product when proper. Is there a way to do

It seems that there is an issue with registering local utilities on a
Product install. It seems that on a product reinstall, the local utility is
re-registered. In doing so, you lose all data that the local utility was
managing.
