BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.0 for Domino
Waterloo, Ont.-based Research In Motion (RIM) has announced that BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.0 for IBM Lotus Domino and Microsoft Exchange is now available. According to RIM, BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.0 offers manageability, enhanced security and simplified application development. New features of BlackBerry Enterprise Software v4.0 include: Simplified cradle-less wireless provisioning; remote application installation; support for AES (Advanced
Encryption Standard); and content protection on the handheld with local data encryption. IT administrators can control which application servers are allowed to push content to handhelds through BlackBerry Mobile Data Service, and control the application servers that users can access through BlackBerry Mobile Data Service.
Content manager
Kryos Systems, based in Calgary, Alta., has released TitanWeb Version 3.1 content management software based on WebSphere Portal Express Plus and Lotus Domino. Among portlets are two that read an RSS XML news feed from TitanWeb. As content is published to Titan Web it is automatically shown inside the portal. Other portlets enable content searching and quick retrieval of specific documents in the TitanWeb content repository. As part of the release, Kryos is
offering an introductory packaged solution that includes IBM and Kryos bundled software, services and solutions for $21,000 (USD).
Avaya server melds voice, messaging
Avaya, based in Basking Ridge, N.J., has released Modular Messaging 2.0, which can support up to 20,000 users per system. With IP telephony and IP networking, a single system can support multiple locations without requiring separate voice mail servers at each location. According to Avaya, Modular Messaging 2.0 end users can access their messages from PCs as well as from their phones. A software plug-in from Avaya enables users to access their voice messages
through IBM Lotus Notes and Microsoft Outlook interfaces. The system also allows workers to use common Web interfaces to listen, reply, forward and send voice, fax or text messages from any Internet-ready PC.
Tracker update targets workflow
Tucson, Ariz.-based Automation Centre's Tracker Suite 7.0, for use with Lotus Notes/Domino, addresses the need for people to remotely access project-related information. A revamped workflow engine enables users to receive, review and approve time/expense/purchase reports and requests from mobile devices. Other improvements include the ability to integrate workflows with contractors, partners, customers and other outside organizations. Among other
improvements to Tracker Suite is database support for IBM DB2.
Remark! Voice Sever gains new telephony interfaces
San Diego-based Big Sky Technologies Inc., in an effort to provide tighter integration with popular telephone systems, has added two telephony integration options to the Remark! Voice Server. Big Sky's Remark! products include Remark! Unified MessagingAssistant for IBM Lotus Notes and Domino and the Remark! Voice Server which supports a range of Workgroup Interactive Voice Response (WIVR) applications such as customer support help desks, sales and
marketing hotlines, human resource benefit enrollment and time and attendance reporting systems.
More than just the fax
Fax and business document delivery house Esker Software, Madison, Wis., has enhanced its Esker Fax for Notes software with an Image Recognition Module. Esker Fax for Notes 3.5 Feature Pack 1 includes iNotes support allowing users to send faxes, to use a fax request form via a Web client and to implement fax approval workflows. A fully integrated help data base that works through the Notes interface is reported. Image Recognition allows Lotus Notes users to
work with business documents such as purchase orders and invoices from within their desktop environment.

Zinside now offers the Zen Box server, billed as an open-source alternative to Domino and Exchange. The bundle combines a groupware
suite with network and security tools...Redline Networks said that biotechnology firm Serono would deploy the Redline Networks E/X appliances to boost its enterprise network of Lotus Domino Web Access, IBM WebSphere, Siebel and other servers.
