IDC: Linux PCs to hit $10 billion in 2008
[CNET News.com]
Sales of new and used PCs running the Linux operating system will reach $10 billion by 2008, market researcher IDC predicted. About 17 million Linux PCs will be sold that year, bringing the total installed base to 42.6 million, according to the IDC study. Linux 2008 market share of 7 percent would still likely be dwarfed by Windows.

[Reuters]
Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi's unfinished Sagrada Familia cathedral is nearing completion faster with the help of software from France's Dassault Systemes and IBM. Builders are using the software to make virtual replicas of building elements, and to plan out the work needed to finish the cathedral. Project completion may be only twenty years away.

The Missing Link

Bad call -- cell phone ring stops the music
[Ananova]
Sometimes, something techie can be just plain tacky -- like a cutesy cell phone ring that sticks out like a sore thumb. When a cell phone rang during a classical music concert in Denmark, the conductor lost his composure (as opposed to losing his composer, who in this case was Ravel), stopped the music, waited for the ringing to stop and made the musicians start from the top. What he should have done was take the symphony to the offending party's house, wait for the person to make a private call, then rev up the Ravel as "forte" as they could play. But then again, he didn't ask us.
