You should check the ALSA drivers, which contains support for the i8x sound
and AC'97. I don't remember the site but you can easily find it with some
search engine (I did it with Google). This is also very easy to install
(read the INSTALL file for writing the conf.modules or modules.conf).
You can also check the pin configuration on your motherboard (there should
be something for redirecting sound to the internal speaker).

Subject: Sound problems
Security Level:? Internal
Hi there
I run redhat 7.1 on a dell optiplex gx150 (Pen III coppermine). My sound
card
is an onboard intel i810_audio. It picks up the card, but sound is only on
the one speaker.
When I run kudzu --probe to check what card it is this is the result....
class: AUDIO
bus: PCI
detached: 0
driver: i810_audio
desc: "Intel Corporation|82820 820 (Camino 2) AC'97 Audio"
vendorId: 8086
deviceId: 2445
subVendorId: 1028
subDeviceId: 00be
pciType: 1
I have tested the speakers before you ask...
Here is what loads in my modules.conf
alias eth0 3c59x
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
alias sound-slot-0 i810_audio
options i810_audio ftsodell=1
post-install sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -L >/dev/null
2>&1 || :
pre-remove sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -S >/dev/null
2>&1 || :
alias usb-controller usb-uhci
can anyone direct me on how to fix this problem? I have no knowledge on how
to fix sound problems on Redhat.....
Many Thanks
Chris Grigor
