I downloaded and installed
 kernel-source-2.4.3-12.i386.rpm
with rpm -ivh

It hasn't helped I've just ended up
with a whole bunch of .config & .patch 
files in
/usr/src/redhat/SOURCES

none of the files in /usr/include/linux
have changed nor is there any new path

and an 
  rpm -q kernel-source
reports that the package is not installed
