Have you installed openssh-server? If so, type:
chkconfig --list sshd

You should see something like:
sshd            0:off   1:off   2:on    3:on    4:on    5:on    6:off

Make sure that the app starts in the run levels you use. If not:
chkconfig --level 2345 sshd on
