I HAVE found a bug in gcc 2.96-85 - specifically
in moving pointers in strstreams. I discussed this
with Red Hat and their recommendation was to go to
http://rpmfind.net
where there are rpms of various versions of including
gcc 2.96-99.i386 for RawHide 1.0 and a "Polish(ed)
Linux Version" of gcc 3.0 & 3.0.1 for i386 and i686.
RH commented that they could give no guarantees that
it would work.
I haven't had the time to try this yet.
