Just to be sure, you can run 'up2date -u' from the command line. If there 
are needed updates, they will be downloaded. Couldn't hurt, just to be 
sure.

My experience with doing just that was good. Just make sure you apply all 
the updates. The only real issue I had was printing, which was fixed with 
the updates.
