I am embarrassed. I kept asking why free could not recognize more that 4G
of swap. Well I finally bit the bullet and looked at the source code of
free. All it does is reformat the information in /proc/meminfo.

So the question is why doesn't the kernel recognize more than 4Gig of
swap. Is this a parameter in the kernel compilation that can be set or
is this hard coded and unchangeable. This is kernel 2.4.3-12.
