Alright ..

well coupla things...u might have already checked it
out.

Coz if the mt /dump both failed...then it could be a
problem with the drive or the communication link which
in ur case is SCSI.Is ur SCSI Id 7..it usually is
that.
Ctrl A during start up to check the SCSI settings.

Btw did u check the tape modules installed.
/sbin/lsmod?

Is the module aic7xxx present. Other module that ought
be installed is st/sg .
If they arent present..Do "modprobe aic7xxx" and so on
for the other modules.

Still, check the hardware (loose)connections..U might
not want to be doing everything to finally find out
that the SCSI cable was not properly fitted.Cant think
of anything else.
