If I upgrade from glibc-2.2.2-10 to glibc-2.2.4-24 (using rpms), is it going
to break the applications I'm running?

Is glibc-2.2.4-24 backwards-compatible with applications that were compiled
under glibc-2.2.2-10?

I remember a couple years back, I did the recommended rpm upgrade of glibc
on a previous version of Redhat, and the result was that it horribly munged
the system - practically nothing would load anymore. I don't want to repeat
the same mistake.
