i replaced the power supply, because upon further investigation (i sat next to
the open case while it was running for about an hour) i heard the psu making
funny noises.

so far, no shutdowns!

thanks, so far. i, too, have heard funky things about amd's shutting down. i
think this mb/cpu make exorbitant (spikey?) demands on a generic psu, so i got a
non-generic one. we'll see...
