IPX is the protocol used in Novell Netware networks. If you have only MS Win
/ UNIX machines / networks there is no reason for using IPX when you can use
TCP/IP: it offers you much more flexibility and it is far more spreaded (not
talking about the fact that you MUST use TCP/IP if you want to connect to
the Internet).

Due to the shown reasons and the fact that I didn't have to deal with
Netware networks I didn't bother digging into IPX's details.

Andrei

Subject: IPX question

I'm just a student, so this is probably a dumb question.
In a lecture, it was mentioned that ipx was the "older way" oppose to ...
maybe vpn... i don't remember, but I was wondering what ipx is and the
benifits of using it over newer options? I remember people on this list
talking about something with ipx and am curious about it...
thanks

sari!
