is your boss wanting to log employee im's or just record own personal
conversations?  i'm sure aim offers the ability to save a
conversation if not the ability to log.  For logging of personal
conversations without intervention on the users part once configured
trillian is very good.  trillian will sort im's by type and user.

beyond this i draw blank.
