Mostly not - SMTP is usualy open to anyone on the Internet (if it is an 
open relay) or to selected "few" on the same network (if it is not an open 
relay). That means, anyone can forge your address if he's on the same 
subnet with you - using the same ISP, for example. 
There are SMTP servers that require authorization, but not as many of them.
