I've watched the thread on the security-basics list and wasn't at all shocked to see multiple references to FoundStone's fport.exe.
I was, however, somewhat surprised to see the single reference to Microsoft's portquery tool. After all these years, MS finally wrote a port scanner, but won't simply say that it's a port scanner/banner grabber utility. However, the tool does not provide the functionality that the original poster asked for. Just an FYI for those using XP...fport doesn't run on XP. Instead, use 'netstat -ano'...notice the '-o' switch. And no, the '-o' switch isn't on NT or 2K...I've received several emails from folks on that issue, and have avoided sending the usually-obligatory "duh" reply. Anyway, I hope this helps... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Tax Center - online filing with TurboTax http://taxes.yahoo.com/
