I started the JMU program summer 2001, and expect to finish summer 2004. It
is a lot of work, and it is very flexible. I sometimes travel, and am able
to login to the JMU program anywhere I can get on the internet. Books and
reference materials are the same as they would be in a bricks and mortar
school. Exams are taken at standard Prometric locations (where I also took
the GRE exam for acceptance to the program).

My bachelor's degree was in psychology. Although I've worked with computers
since the mid 1980's, the courses I had taken were directly related to my
work, and I lacked the in-depth theoretical knowledge of a computer science
major. The masters program at JMU starts with preliminary courses in
computer programming and computer fundamentals (for those who need them; I
did), then moves on to graduate level computer science courses before
concentrating on information security topics. You end up with a master's
degree in computer science concentrating in information security.

I was considering pursuing an InfoSec graduate degree from James Madison
University. Has anyone heard anything positive or negative about this
university and it's graduate program?

Thank you,
