I have found with AOL that when your personal file cabinets, which are found
in the organize folder within the AOL folder, get too large, they cause all
kinds of problems, including disconnects. You can test it by temporarily
moving the large files and see if it corrects the problem. It will
automatically create another file to replace it, but if you do not switch
back, you will lose everything you have in your favorite places and will no
longer be able to access the downloaded mail in your personal file cabinet.
I have found I can access the mail by opening the removed file with Microsoft
word, but that that does not allow me to cut and paste anything in my mail
into other documents. I am on so many email lists that I have had to remove
these files several times now. I still have many problems with AOL
malfunctioning, but that helps solve some of the problems. When the TV
commercials say how easy AOL is to use, I really get upset. I find it to be
full of bugs and malfunctions at least when you are on as many lists as I am
on with hundreds of messages and hundreds of photos that I attempt to
download daily. The automatic functions should let me download them with a
few keystrokes but instead I often have to spend hours doing it manually and
even then I often get messages saying "file not found."
