It might be worth a visit to the site mentioned below:

BLETCHLEY PARK near Milton Keynes, England, has two claims to fame.
It was the home of wartime codebreakers who helped to win WW2 and in
doing so brought the war to an end an estimated two years early,
saving thousands of lives on both sides in the process, and also
claims to be the home of the world's first large electronic valve
computer. You can visit it on weekend open days, or go to their
website which is at http://www.cranfield.ac.uk/CCC/BPark

There was a series of programs in 1999 about the work done here.
