Pull down the "Help" menu from the top of your Word screen.

Select "Contents and Index".

Make sure the "Index" tab is selected at the top of the window that has
just opened.

Type the word "characters" in Box 1.

Select "special" from Box 2.

Select "Type international characters". This will bring up a window
showing the keyboard commands required to create special characters like
the ones you seek.

You might also pull down the "Insert" menu and select "Symbol...". Once
you get there, you can select from different fonts so you may have to do
some exploring to find the symbols you need. The font named Symbol is
usually pretty helpful. When you locate the symbol you want, click on it
once and then on the "Insert" button at the bottom of the window. The
symbol will appear in your document.

If there is a symbol that you use frequently you may want to set up a
shortcut key for it.
