An alternative option would be to convert the SEISAN file to ASCII using
SEIASC, and then back to SEISAN or mSEED format as required.

In seismseed.c  (reading routine for mseed) times are calculated from 1970 so
it might be there. I am no familiar with c so to start with I hope somebody
else can fix it.

Subject: [seisan] problem reading very old data

Hi,

I?m doing a project digitising old paper seismograms and have hit a weird issue
with mulplt.

When reading in a mseed file with a year prior to 1970 mulplt just stops at the
stage it should open the waveview window.

I can look at the data by altering the header to be a later year. 1969 fails
1971 opens.

This is a mseed problem ? I can use wavetool to convert to SEISAN and open the
resulting file fine.

Unfortunately I need mseed for storage as there are gaps in the data every
minute where the minute marks on the record are.

I?ve had a look at the code but the only epoch I can find is 1900 ? any ideas
of where to look for the solution to this would be very welcome.

Thank you,

Richard.

Thank you, Jens,

I was looking in libmseed.c.
Not immediately obvious where the epoch is used but al least that comment
explicitly says what the epoch is.
I'll find it.

Richard
