The red link should be generated by a property (with type Page) rather than just a page... i.e. "The Author of the book is [[is author::John Smith]]". That will create a red link to the page 'John Smith' (assuming the property "is author" has type of Page). Next you set the 'has default form' property of the 'is author' property. Else you could use namespaces...
