i was wrong about ignitions not making power! i just read an ignition install
in honda power(dont ask i hate hondas) dan barnes wrote:engine output was
improved throughout the power band.at low rpm the difference was 1hp,but from
4500 to7000rpm,the civic picked up a consistant 2to 3 hp over the stock
ignition.measurably improved power at all engine speeds.
now this test was done on a civic which also has a very good
stock ignition system.also the capactive ignition box was an accel 300plus
thundersport. also note that the msd box is basically the same thing but even
better. heres a brief comparison: msd accel
       spark 480mj about530mj
        capacitive discharge capactive discharge
fires multiple sparks below 3k na

yeah the accel has more spark energy but at this high a level give or take
50 mj is not alot. the msd is clearly a better box because low end
driveability on four cylinders is where the multiple sparks count.this is
where it smoths out your idle andgives more response.
final note this was a civic with bolt ons only,no forced induction!
