how hard is it to replace cv boots and is it worth it to do it yourself of
pay someone? How much does the boot cost itself? Thanks

i just replaced my driver's side half-shaft last weekend. my outer cv joint
boot had ripped twice in one year so i decided to replace the entire shaft
to save me time and future trouble. personally, since the install was quite
easy (first time for me), i would replace the half-shaft. is it the driver
or passanger side? i got mine for $75 from a local import parts store (BAP
in Tucson), with a $45 core charge that i have to go pick up today. =] DO
NOT go to the stealership for this install. i have heard rumors it will
cost you somewhere between $300-450 because of the labor charges (usually
about $70/hr). if you have any other questions, email me. oh and a little
trick if you do decide to install the shaft... get some bearing grease, put
it in the freezer for about 20 minutes, then put some on the circlip which
goes into the tranny. this will keep the clip from moving around when you
put the shaft back in. worked like a charm! good luck,
