We are using ICD-9 codes
Severe Sepsis 995.92
Septic Shock 785.52
I inquired about this when we started inputing data into the SSC database. From
the responces I got back, we went ahead with the current plan.
To the best of my knowledge, the inclusion population it is not defined in
black and white on the SSC site. It is important that we align with what SSC
who works with the NQF for future e-measures. Please let me know if you have
further information.

Subject: Re: [Sepsis Groups] Point of care lactate testing
Routinely we do POC lactate in an ABG with I Stat blood gas analyser and moment
central line is inserted, ScVO2 with lactate is done. We have correlated with
lab values....quite sensitive. Lab reporting often is delayed, hence trending
becomes difficult. POC gives us near accurate report in two minutes.
The reducing trend indicates quality resuscitation. As the values of venous
(high) and arterial lactate are different, the trend analysis has to be done in
either arterial or venous lactate only!
If arterial line is not indicated, we usually assess venous lactate trend.
Gd day,
Sunil
