Our Sepsis committee has been running for several years. We started it as part of a Michigan ICU and ER Sepsis collaborative. Our ER Physician champion runs the committee with our CCU Intensivist Physician Champion as the ICU Mentor.
We review processes and Sepsis information stats. Our first priority was to institute a Sepsis Screening tool, first in the ER, then we moved it out to the inpatient units, and lastly our OB department. Our CCU has been stable in Sepsis Care for years and they have always done a good job with Sepsis screening. We developed ER and In patient Sepsis orders. Our focus now is the new Core Measure and community education. We have representatives from Quality, ER, ICU, In Patient Nursing, Lab, Pharmacy, Infection Control, and case management.
