There is one main local EMS company due to a recent acquisition. They now
utilize an EMR and we no longer get a copy of the record. We are members of
Patient Bridge, a Health Information Organization (HIO) that allows health care
providers to securely and quickly access their patient’s health information
from other points of care. Currently EMS is not a member of that network but
it would solve the problem should they partner in the future. I participate
in a regional community outreach coalition where representatives of a variety
of healthcare settings share information. I hope to share the need for access
to the care information of EMS patients at an upcoming meeting.

I am ccing my asbstractor so she can respond as well – but we have the ability
to have nurses document what EMS gave and also their run sheets are scanned
into our record as well.

Are your EMS agencies giving antibiotics in the field? If so, how are you
capturing the administration time for the CMS Sep-1 measure.
