Sounds reasonable to me, in fact I quite like this.
Call me old fasioned but I'm fond of the listener pattern.

Oh we can all right they're pretty much identical.
The problem is we currently don't have (sorry Serge!) a truly compelling
reason not to.
However I believe that making processor listen for a set of lifecycle
events probably gives us that.
