I have been able to reproduce OOM exceptions today, but nothing helpful in the heap dumps (see ~noel/java.hprof-OOM-4.txt, which has several dumps in it with hours of separation). The first couple of dumps were during normal operation, the last one was taken after getting several OOM exceptions, although JAMES did keep running. Nothing there seems bad. All of the major allocations appear to be for the DNS cache.
At this point, I'm back to running with JDK 1.4.2_09 (both JDK 1.4.2_12 and 1.5.0_06 exhibited problems with internal deadlocking when using hprof) and mordred, but have switched to Connector/J v3. It also appears that it might work better if I increase the maximum heap size when using hprof, since what I want isn't to see the OOM, but to see what happens in the heap over a period of days. For the moment, I'm running without hprof, because I don't have time to babysit server. --- Noel --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
