Don't sweat it. I'm new to it as well :) Pretty interesting piece of software - has some 'philosophical' design issues that are somewhat strange but otherwise welcome to the world of an actually usable Java based email server.

$JAMES_HOME/apps/james/SAR-INF/environment.xml contains all of the log level information. Open this file and set the log level for the POP3 service (and likely mailspooler) to DEBUG.

Is there any way to turn on more detailed logging/tracing in the POP3
log? It currently just logs that a connection was made and closed.
I'd love to see "retrieving note from [EMAIL PROTECTED]; deleting note from
[EMAIL PROTECTED]: etc. entries. Any way to easily get that type of info
logged?

I have one mailbox that sends the same notes over and over and won't
delete them. I can go to mail2web.com and delete them. The mailbox
will work for a short while, then it gets stuck again.

I guess I'm looking for any kind of more detailed debug info. I
understand the POP3 protocol. But I have no clue where James is
stoing all the info for a particular mailbox (e.g. where the
incrementing index is stored, etc.)

Any help on how to get more info to assist in figuring out what is
going on?

Thanks.

J.
