Hi,

This a continuation of my problem that I have mentioned in the mail below.

When I send a mail to a host which is not configured on my james server I get a reply back as,

Message from  yahoo.com.
Unable to deliver message to the following address(es).

<[EMAIL PROTECTED] <http://us.f603.mail.yahoo.com/ym/[EMAIL
PROTECTED]&YY=26036&order=down&sort=date&pos=0&view=a&head=b>>:
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 550 - Requested action not taken: relaying denied
Giving up on xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.

This is a expected behaviour as I have not configured this some-name.mydomain.org in my configured.xml.
I have gone thorugh my config.xml file and found the above error message

550 - Requested action not taken: relaying denied

in my config.xml which is commented.
<!--
<mailet match="RemoteAddrNotInNetwork=127.0.0.1, mail.picorp.com, 164.164.12.114, morbid.pinet.org" class="ToProcessor">
<processor> relay-denied </processor>
<notice>550 - Requested action not taken: relaying denied</notice>
</mailet>
-->
Could I trap this mail in a mailet ? How do I trap mails which are not for the local host domain (like some-name.mydomain.org). In the config.xml, there is a comment that says,

<!-- These servernames are used for both matcher/mailet processing and SMTP auth -->

does that mean all my incoming mails to my james server should have the host specified in the <servername> element for proceeding to my custom mailet ? Could anyone point me to the design documents of James, as how incoming mails are processed in different processors, or their order of processing.

Help from the group would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Gautam

Hi,

I have a requirement where our mail server could receive mails for different hosts(e.g. abc.mydomain.org, xyz.mydomain.org, pqr.mydomain.org ), one way to achieve this is adding <servername> element in <servernames> tag. But if we have a large host name list(may be in thousands) then maintaining all the hosts in config.xml may be a problem. I was looking at possibilities for wildcards like *.mydomain.org. It is possible to provide wildcards for <servername>. Any other suggestions from the group would be most welcome.

Thanks and regards,
Gautam
