I don't have a 2.3.2 james dist atm, maybe try to find a place in the james shell script to set there JAVA_HOME

Problem fixed if i run james as root.

Using PHOENIX_HOME: /home/iwan/dev/james-2.3.2
Using PHOENIX_TMPDIR: /home/iwan/dev/james-2.3.2/temp
Using JAVA_HOME: /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.24
Running Phoenix:

Phoenix 4.2
