Actually, I recall them saying that they coined the term in a 1994 Gartner report.... heh.

Gartner's view of SOA "1.0" is so ridiculous that it's no wonder they believe that a new term needs to be coined to define exactly what we meant by SOA in the first place. SOA as "client-server"? Does anyone really believe in that vision of SOA?
