Erm, no, there was no realization of anything. Form-style state transition declarations have always been a critical part of REST. URI templates aren't a "description language", they're a forms language. WADL's a bit of a bastard language, but the only proponent of it I know who also understands the benefits of REST, has recently questioned its value; http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-web-http-desc/2006Aug/0003.html Mark.
