Each service in a SOA should be developed as its own software product
line in an ideal situation. However, if a service is going to consume
other services, this muddies the product line concept for that
particular service. The product line concept can still be used but, now
there will be additional configuration management issues due to the
introduction of a service supply chain dependency.
