+1. Agility by itself doesn't make too much sense. I've seen some people who think agility, governance, and SO are the goals of a business. These concepts are just some of the means which may be used to attain a business goal - they are not a goal by itself.
In general, I follow the steps below: 1. Clarify customer's business goal 2. Find ways to attain the goal 3. Select processes which may benefit from using IT 4. Refine which technologies to use 5. Evaluate cost of the technology and weight it with increase in business benefits It's necessary to select what to make agile and decide on how to make it agile so it will contribute on attaining the business goal.
