Nick -- What do you mean by "entity-specific (service) methods" ? Do you mean a service that is equated with (handled by) a single method call to an entity object? If so, I am not sure that this is part of "service orientation, as conventionally understood". It seems opposed to the idea of course grained services, which are likely to involve multiple entities.
