thanks for all the pointers to everything, im in the middle of just building
a simple parser myself with the getContent method ... why does XML have to
be so difficult? i know validation is one thing but to be able to get
something between the tags and throw it into a servlet shouldnt be such a
task ...
has anyone tested or played with CF_Anywhere yet?

However, anyone planning to use the IBM XML parser should pay
special attention to this clause in the license:
2. Term and Termination
In the event a claim arises with respect to the Software, IBM may
request, upon thirty (30) days notice that you discontinue further use
of the Software and that you delete or destroy all copies of the
Software you possess (except for one copy that may be kept in your
archives). You agree that you will comply with such a request.
Do you really want your commercial product dependent on something
that could become illegal to use at any moment? (Arguments about the
likelihood of such a revocation do not really soothe those who have
a lot of money at stake.)
In looking for an alternative, I noticed that the Microsoft/DataChannel
parser had the exact same clause in its license, implying a common
heritage. Does anyone know any more about that?
