I had a similar problem with the Netscape Native Servlet Support.

You see if the servlet server cannot process the request and formulate the
output fast enough, the engine will only print out text up until the
timeout.  When we switched our server to JRun, we seemed to have no other
issues.  We also had an issue with AOL where AOL members were not recieving
the ALL of the output from the servlet engine because the filters that AOL
has in place were causing just enough lag that the engine would timeout.
