Hi.
You use the singular form on the url because you can only access one
servlet when you are calling it. So it makes sense gramatically.
But you use a servlets directory to contain "all" you servlets.
Its not usually noted in the docs very clearly.

Subject: Servlet and Servlets in JSDK2.1!
Hi,
Who can tell me why in the following, one is "servlets"and the other is
"servlet"?
I know "servlets" is a directory path for "index.html".
Problem????But why use "servlet" for the servlets?
http://localhost:8080/examples/servlets/
http://localhost:8080/examples/servlet/HelloWorldExample
thanks very much!
