I'm using JServ on Linux, and IBM WebSphere on AIX and NT. ( all sitting on
apache )
After going thru the anguish of setting up Websphere once, it wasn't
so bad to set up. It's very well documented, and It seems to be able
to survive running in a heavy environment ( so far. ) Unfortunatly
it's not available on Linux (yet, but it's comming!)...so I installed JServ
on
my Linux box, and I'm attempting to get it to work as nice as WebSphere.
Ouch. That's painful. It's a pretty nasty install for the first timer, I
guess the
most important thing to remember is permissions. Damn thing gives
"NoClassDefFound" errors all over the place if one of your .properties or
the .conf files are not able to be accessed. grrr.
That being said, Websphere comes allready setup to handle JSP's , server
side includes (via <SERVLET> tags) and what not. Add to that a simple easy
gui administration, and you've got a really nice ( and relativly stable )
servlet environment.
JServ, on the other hand doesn't come with those features pre-installed, so
you have
to go and get JServSSI, the JSP thingie and install 'em yourself.
If you're working on Linux, go for JServ. If your're on NT or AIX ( or
Solaris I think ) , give WebSphere a try. Grab it from IBM's website...

Hmm, I've been checking this on my local box, And I havn't seen any
evidence of this. Very odd..
