        I just read an article in Information Security
magazine.  The numbers are horrible.  Expect an order of
magnitude (or 2) difference in performance between SSL and non-SSL
serving.

        The most striking example was ~2000 connections/s  w/o SSL
vs ~14 connections/s w/SSL.  I'm not sure of the legal repercussions
of printing the all the numbers.  The article is not on their
homepage (as near as I can tell).
