Eswar,
No no! Not from a servlet. Browser. An applet running in native browser VM
"belongs" to the web page, but an applet running in the plugin does not,
even though it sits on the web page. This has implications on the sessionid
variable carried by the cookie.
Most servlet books have a URL rewriting example, and I bet the Sun site has
one also. I went through the exercise in Hunter's book (sorry I don't have
the code to forward you), and found (to my surprise) that unless I turn off
servlet cookie support, the URL rewriting doesn't work. To do this, you need
to open the ServletExec admin page.
Hope this helps,
Dave
